Hazel Lucille Wallace of Wyandotte died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center after an illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Wallace was born June 10, 1923, to Cody and Clara Long.
She was a homemaker, a charter member of the United Methodist Church in Wyandotte, Tops 600 in Seneca, Mo., the Red Hat Society and the United Methodist Women. She was the faith keeper for the Seneca-Cayuga Indian Tribe.
She married Leonard Wallace on Aug. 16, 1938. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, James WhiteEagle, Gordon Whitetree, Jerry Whitetree and Clifton Rex Whitetree; two sisters, Christina Stanger and Mary Lind, and two great-grandchildren, Brett Wencil and Hope Bell.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Norman Wallace of Grantville, Kan., Jack and Glenda Wallace of Tulsa and Richard and Ruby Wallace of Wyandotte; three daughters, Grace Lockner, Clara Wallace and June Wallace, all of Wyandotte; two brothers and their wives, Tommy and Julie Whitetree of Miami and Terry and Molly Whitetree of Tulsa; three sisters and their husbands, Margaret Dunning and Sally and Patrick Leaf of Grove and Lenora and Gordon Sparks of Wyandotte; 21 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Wyandotte. The Rev. Gary Moody and Don Bates will officiate. Burial will be in Basset Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Morris Wallace, Mark Wallace, Mike Wallace, Tommy McDade Jr., Jack All “A.J.” Hart and Bryan Dale Wencil. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob VanBethusen, Steven Vanbethusen, Christopher “Bear” Schmidt, Terry Wallace, Bill Wallace, Roger Wallace, Chris Lee Stanger, Craig Stanger and Michael Lockner.
She may be viewed at the family home, south of Wyandotte.
