Donna Joy Freeman of Miami died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at her home after an illness. She was 59.

Mrs. Freeman was born July 2, 1949, in Picher to Donald D. and Joyce (Hughs) Rather. She lived in Picher all of her life.

She was a homemaker.

She married Sam Freeman on May 2, 1964, in Picher. He survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include three sons, Ernest A. “Sammy” Freeman Jr. and wife Kimberly of Miami, Harold Gene “Corky” Freeman of Vinita and Jimmy John “J.J.” Freeman of Picher; five sisters, Sharold Atcher of Shepherdsville, Ky., Opal Searia of Picher, Gail Echeverria of Temecula, Calif., Paula Grisham of Miami and Karen David of Cedar Park, Texas; two brothers, Jim Rather of Oklahoma and John Rather of Picher, and two grandchildren, Keith Freeman and Megan Freeman.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher. The Rev. Ronald Hughes and the Rev. Paul Fagan will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Ted Freeman, Gene Snow, Danny Snow, Lester Foster, Kevin Rather and Josh Freeman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
