Imogene G. Smiley of Grove died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Integris Grove General Hospital after a long illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Smiley was born Jan. 9, 1918, in Miami to Garrett and Opal (Stevens) Jackson. She graduated from Miami High School in 1936. She moved to Muskogee in 1956, returning to Miami in 1969.

She owned and operated the Imogene Jackson Dance Studio and later worked as a grocery clerk at Stokes Cardinal Food Store in Miami. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was married to Dwayne Smiley. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Gary and Kennette Smiley of Afton, Larry and Sylvia Smiley of Whittier, Calif., and Alan Smiley of Oklahoma City; one daughter and her husband, Karan and John Janney of Glenview, Ill.; six grandchildren, Matt Janney and his wife Brooc, Seth Smiley, Daniel Smiley, Evan Smiley, Laurie Steen and Elizabeth Spar, and two great-grandchildren, Elle Janney and Jackson Steen.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami with the Rev. Carol Holden officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.

Pallbearers will be Mark Young, Randy Wilkins, Harold Post, George Haralson, Kenneth Handy and Keith Martins. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Jacobs and Jack Trask.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
