Arleta Mae Goodman passed away August 25, 2012 at the age of 90. She was born October 12, 1921 to George and Clara Goldsberry Tilley in Welch, Okla. Arleta, or Tillie as she was affectionately known was one of seven children.
Arleta married Richard Earl Goodman December 22, 1953. They resided in Miami, Okla. where they raised their sons, Richard (Dick), Jr. and Ed Goodman.
Arleta was active as a home maker. She also enjoyed card clubs, bowling and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Arleta enjoyed cooking and sharing her cooking. She also enjoyed entering her cooking, especially her pecan pies, in the Ottawa County Fair where she received many, many ribbons---she only counted the 1st place ribbons.
Arleta loved spending time with her four grandchildren and was especially proud of her great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, an infant son, and five siblings.
Arleta is survived by her sons, Richard and wife Verna of Denton, Texas, Ed and wife Trish of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Chris and wife Brandy of Farmers Branch, Texas, Kara of Denton, Texas, Lucas and wife Sadie of Ponca City and Ryan of Norman, Okla. and Madison, the great-granddaughter of Farmers Branch, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Louese Spera of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
Arrangements are at Paul Thomas Funeral Home with visitation Friday, August 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 1 at the First United Methodist Church, Miami, at 10 a.m. with burial following at the GAR Cemetery.
