James F. Giddens Sr. of Wyandotte died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at his home. He was 80.

Giddens was born March 5, 1927, in Douthat to Oval and Cecile (Hixenbaugh) Giddens. He lived in Ottawa County most of his life.

He worked in the mines at age 19. He also worked for Tampko, Starlite Tools and Safeway, all of Joplin, Mo. He retired from Ace Electric in Columbus, Kan. He was of the Christian faith.

He married Mary Schultz on July 8, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1999.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Gregory Giddens, and his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Albert M. Tucker Jr. of Joplin and James F. Giddens Jr. of Baxter Springs, Kan.; two daughters, Connie M. Holt of Galena, Kan., and Linda J. Tyler of Joplin; five sisters, Jose Frazier of Galena, Nita Rogers, Mary Summers and June Murray, all of Oklahoma, and Betty S. Hallonbuger of Riverton, Kan., and one brother, Jerry Hixenbaugh of Galena.

No services ae planned. The family has chosen to cremate.
