George Willis Beck of Miami died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at his home after an illness. He was 88.

Mr. Beck was born July 9, 1920, in Miami to Charles Abney and Natalie (Bowen) Beck. He lived in Miami all his life.

He was a World War II veteran of the Navy.

He was a boat dealer and co-owner of Beacon Marine. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Miami and the Miami Country Club.

He married Billie Lou Jameson on March 16, 1990, in Miami. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include three stepsons and their wives, Monty and Pamela Franks of Miami, Tom Forbes of Tulsa and Michael D. and Karen Meier of Baxter Springs, Kan.; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Judy and Bob Pitman and Kathryn Jan Meier, all of Miami, and Kay and Jerry Atkinson of Chickasha; one sister, Betty Dean of Miami, 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Miami. Dr. Helen Hutchinson will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Michael Aaron Meier, Curtis McGinis, Austin McGinis, Brian Atkinson, Matthew Franks and Chris Franks.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
