Verna Belle Cook of Bluejacket, Oklahoma died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was 86.

Mrs. Cook was born Oct. 7, 1921 in Ramah, Colo., to Oscar Earl and Gertie Dennis (Bingham) Stoner. She moved to the Miami area in 1925. She was a homemaker and a member of Narcissa Baptist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, and her grandchildren.

She married Ervin E. Cook on Nov. 24, 1937, in Miami. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cletis Stoner; a sister, Delma Eulitt; and a son, Lonnie Joe Cook.

Survivors include five children, Janet Porter and her husband Elmer of Bluejacket, Joan Hudelson and her husband David of Bluejacket, Ronnie Cook and his wife Shirley of Miami, Roger Cook and his wife Loretta of Bluejacket, and Sharon McGuire and her husband Harold of Bluejacket; one sister, Wilma Garrett, Miami; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Narcissa Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Kagler will officiate. Burial will follow at Williams Timberhill Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
