Marvin L. Murdock of Del City died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Murdock was born May 10, 1923, in Afton to Charles A. and Martha E. (Wilson) Murdock. He grew up near Bluejacket and attended school in Bluejacket and White Oak. He later moved to Huntington Beach, Calif., Midwest City and Siloam Springs, Ark., before moving to Del City in January.
He was a World War II veteran of the Navy Air Corp as a bell gunner, AOM 1st Class. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross seven times.
He was a fireman for the city of Huntington Beach and worked as a carpenter. After retiring in 1973, he drove a school bus for the Mid-Del School System and was a member of Del City Church of Christ.
He married Helen Horton on Sept. 21, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vivian Saunders, Martha Adams and Evelyn Pillow, and three brothers, Charles, Carl and Artie Murdock.
He later married Daisy. She survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter and her husband, Myrna and Ron Saulsberry of Del City; one brother, Lee Murdock; four sisters, Doris Ward, Mae Newhard, Clara Bullis and Ethelyn Lee; two grandsons and their wives, David and Angie Saulsberry and Mark and Carla Saulsberry; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Madison, four stepchildren, Lora Jones, Brenda Lambrecht, Dewayne Clover and Michael Murdock, and three stepgrandchildren, Ashlyn, Amanda and Alec.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch. Minister Justin Garrett will officiate. Burial will be in Bluejacket Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Ward, Ron Medlock, Ronnie Medlock Jr. and Greg Medlock.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
