Betty Ray Dembinski of Miami died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center after suffering a stroke. She was 81.

Mrs. Dembinski was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Miami to Ray and Ethel Furnish. She graduated from Miami High School.

She worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Miami and its Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the garden club. She served from more than 30 years on the election board. After the death of her husband, she continued making rosaries which have been shipped to missions all over the world.

She married Henry M. Dembinski on June 26, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley Furnish and Lola Penrod.

Survivors include two sons, Marty Dembinski of Miami and David Dembinski and his wife Virginia of Norman; two daughters and their husbands, Janie and Guy Watts of Zena and Peggy and Allen Schnakenberg of Miami; four sisters, Bessie Belle Wagner and JoNelle King, both of Miami, Lucille Meredith of Claremore and Carol Sue Stephens of Haysville, Kan., and six grandchildren, Todd Schnakenberg, Chris Jones, Jason Dembinski, Michele Rogers, Christie Jones and Heather Watts.

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami with the Rev. Gregg Elliott officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Punkin King, Brad King, Robert Springer, Jim Penrod, Ronald Meredith and Mike Delozier.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.

The family is at the home of Peggy Schnakenberg, 630 O NW in Miami.
