Marie V. Rentfrow of Miami died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at her home. She was 88.

Mrs. Rentfrow was born July 17, 1920, in Miami to William H. and Mary C. (Smith) VanSickle. She spent most of her childhood in Chickasha, later moving to Miami where she attended high school. She returned to Miami after living in San Diego, Calif.

She worked in civil service in San Diego. She was a published writer and an artist. She also studied genealogy. She was a member of First Christian Church in Miami, became a member of Northwest Baptist Church and returned to First Christian Church in 1998.

She married Billy E. Rentfrow on April 21, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gordie VanSickle and Van VanSickle and a sister, Margie Seamands.

Survivors include six children, Richard Rentfrow, Linda Trujillo, Carol Backus and Bob Rentfrow, all of Miami, Bill Rentfrow of Colorado and Jim Rentfrow of Ohio; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
