Norman Clyde Jarvis of rural Miami died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his home. He was 84.

He was born April 8, 1926, at Bernice to Bailey and Lilian Marie (Wallen) Jarvis.

Norman attended Cleora School and later served his country in the United States Army.

He married Vera Jones on November 20, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark.

Norman had driven a truck for Rodeway for a few years, but farming, dairy and beef cattle were his life’s work. He enjoyed traveling to the northern states to see large dairy farms and watching his St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Faye Towell.

Survivors include his wife Vera of the home; four children, Tom Jarvis and wife Pam of Afton, Wayne Jarvis and wife Jana of Miami, Marsha Martins and husband Keith of Vinita, Terri Lane and husband Jim of Afton; sisters, Sandra Powell of Afton, Johnnie Hensley of Afton, Charolette McSpadden of Ketchum, Jean Ballenger of Afton, a brother Bill Jarvis of Big Cabin; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 7, at the Cleora United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rich Brasher officiating. Interment will follow at the Sixkiller Cemetery south of Afton. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at
