Retha Gladys Blaylock Brooks died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at The Cottage Nursing Home in Tulsa after a long illness. She was 92.

Mrs. Brooks was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Pryor Creek to William J. and Verna Lou (Banks) Parks. She attended schools in Turkey Ford and Wyandotte and came to Miami in 1964.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Miami.

She married Manuel Blaylock on Aug. 9, 1932, in Grove. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1982. She later married Erwin Brooks. He also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Buford Parks and Alva Parks; one sister, Ruby Heartley, and one great-grandson, Mark Kelly.

Survivors include, three children, Lodema Mahurin of Claremore and Mary Lou Estes and Delmer L. Blaylock and his wife Annette, all of Miami; one sister, Hazel Fitz of St. Cloud, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday in G.A.R. Cemetery. The Rev. Albert Meeks will officiate. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
