Robert Leon Hooper of Miami died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was 79.

Mr. Hooper was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Beebe, Ark., to Erwin and Ethel (Yates) Hooper. He lived in the Miami area most of his life.

He served four years in the Navy.

He owned and operated Hooper Auto Sales in Miami for many years. He worked at B.F. Goodrich and as a pipeline fitter and a welder in a California shipyard.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Miami.

He married Jolene Washington on Sept. 6, 1975, in Columbus, Kan. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Doug Hooper of Miami and Dennis Hooper of Joplin, Mo.; three daughters, Joyce Stapleton of Oswego, Kan., Jena Willcox of Miami and Tracy Smallwood of Claremore; two sisters, Jody Kitchen of Central Point, Ore., and Patricia Hunter of Corpus Christi, Texas, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.

Services were 11 a.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami. The Rev. Raymond Frizzell officiated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
