Mary Lou Hopper passed away July 31, 2008, in Grove, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Hopper was born on April 9, 1927 in Bluejacket to Lloyd and Esther Franklin Housh.

She married Coleman Hopper in 1957. They owned and operated the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Picher. She was a licensed practical nurse for many years working at Miami Baptist Hospital and home health care.

Mrs. Hopper loved to travel and spent one year as a nurse working in Saudi Arabia. She lived in Fairland for many years and was a longtime member of Hudson Creek Baptist Church in Fairland.

In her later years, she moved to Grove and joined the First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading the Bible.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 1973, sister Helen Taylor and brother Don Housh.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Matthews of Grove and Lorie Paslay and her husband Jim of Henryetta; five grandchildren, Colby Matthews and his wife Juli of Independence, Kan., Russ Matthews and his wife Susan of Springfield, Mo., and Erin, Emily and Courtney Paslay of Henryetta; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Josh, and Jacob Matthews, Alex and Jon Matthews and Rylee Paslay, and one brother, Tom Housh and his wife Sharon of Miami.

Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at the Paul Thomas Chapel in Miami. Burial will be at the Fairland Cemetery

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
