James “Jim” A. Makins of Commerce, Okla. died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, Okla. He was 89.
Mr. Makins was born May 23, 1920, in Howell, Mich., to David Allen and Margaret (Calder) Makins. He lived in the Commerce, Miami area for the past 42 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a painter and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Commerce, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth, in 1993.
Survivors include three sons Perry Makins of Orange, Calif.,Doug Makins of Freemont, Calif., and Earl Makins of California; one brother, George Makins of Surprise, Ariz.; two sisters, Grace Lesher and Wilma Glenn, both of Seal Beach, Calif.; best friend, Elnora (Collins) Thompson of Miami, Okla., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
