Jack Dale Eden of Stonewall died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at a local hospital. He was 71.
Mr. Eden was born Sept. 14, 1936, at Bokoshe to Willard W. “Jack” and Gwendolyn Davies Eden. He graduated from Stonewall High School and East Central University. He later lived in Welch, returning to Stonewall in 1996.
He was a veteran of the Navy, serving for two years.
He taught in Rocky Ford, Colo., and later worked in Welch as an elementary principal and sixth-grade teacher, retiring in 1991. He was active in law enforcement, serving as a reserve officer both in Craig and Pontotoc counties. He served as civil defense director and volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years. He was also a volunteer emergency medical technician.
Mr. Eden married Sydney Kaye Dennis on Oct. 18, 1958. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Brett Eden, of the home; two brothers, Ben Eden of Beggs and Bill Eden of Shidler; one sister, Wilda Hendrick of San Saba, Texas, and two grandsons, Noah Eden, of the home, and Cale Strickland of Chetopa, Kan.;
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Services were Friday at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada. Don Hoover officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.
Pall bearers were Bob Hatton, Dewayne Cranford, Larry Gross, Jeff Morrison and Joe Glover.
