Gerald L. Richardson of Wyandotte died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at his home after a brief illness. He was 67.
Gerald was born on Feb. 19, 1940, in Joplin, Mo.
He was born to Joe R. and Nola (Hargraves) Richardson. For 26 years he worked in the field of construction in the Kansas City area and was a member of the Carpenters Union No. 61. He was a Korean War veteran of the Army.
He married Opal L. Allen on April 8, 1966, in Miami. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors are one a daughter, Shellie Russell and husband, Steve of Lee's Summit, Mo., a son, Sean Richardson and wife, Mindy of Colorado Springs, Colo., three sisters, Beverly Richardson and Barbara Gibson, both of Galena, Kan., and Kathy Dixon of Quapaw; his twin brother, Jerry Richardson of Canadian, and five grandchildren, Lindsey, Chad, Brooke, Ty and Payton,
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Benny Richardson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin. Pastor Roy Sprouse officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
Pallbearers are David Sowersby, Kevin Wallace, Rob Davis, Don Steward, Larry Wooden and Mike McClure.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the mortuary chapel.
