Malachi David Alan Redden of Norman, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Tuttle, Okla. He was 21.
Mr. Redden was born Aug. 2, 1987, in Joplin, Mo., to Alan and Penny (Kirk) Redden. He graduated from Picher High School in 2006 and a graduate of Northeast Technology Center 2006 in Afton, Okla.
He played football where he was an offensive guard and a defensive tackle wearing the number 68.
He was a member of the Army National Guard Bravo 1-279 Infantry Company where he just returned from a 9-month tour in Iraq. While in Kuwait, he received a medal for a weight lifting competition and was awarded the German Arms Badge.
He had worked as a welder for Circle P in Norman, Okla., since November.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his father, Alan Redden of Baxter Springs, Kan.; his mother and her husband, Penny and Dusty Graham of Picher, Okla.; his fiancee, Jennifer Arends of Norman; his paternal grandmother, Jody Davis of Miami, Okla.; two brothers, Elijah Redden of Norman, Okla., and Jonathan Redden of Picher, Okla., and one stepsister, Presleigh Graham of Picher, Okla.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher, Okla. The Rev. Charles Clevenger will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher, Okla.
Military rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard and Reserve.
