Vivian Mae Callaway of Meeker died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Meeker Nursing Center after a short illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Callaway was born May 1, 1924, in Hitchcock to Carl and Mary (Crosley) Mills. She graduated from Hitchcock High School with the class of 1942 and later attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. She moved to Miami in 1968 and to Duck Creek Shores in Afton 20 years later. She moved to Meeker in 2003.

She worked as nutrition director for DOC Seniors while in Miami. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meeker.

She married Hubert Dale Callaway on Sept. 12, 1945, in Watonga. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2002.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son, Mike Callaway of Harrah; two daughters, Vicki Way and her husband Max of Meeker and Deborah Callaway of Cotati, Calif.; five brothers, William Mills of Ozark, Mo., Gene Mills of Sapulpa, Marion Mills of Plano, Texas, Larry Mills of Tonganoxie, Kan., and David Mills of Gary; three sisters, Josephine Ramer of Omega, Irene Dighton of Guthrie and Louise Northup of Clinton; four grandchildren, Marc Callaway, Amy Sanderson, Benjamin Way and Matthew Way, and two great-grandchildren, Camron Callaway and Brandon Way.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami with the Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami.

Pallbearers will be Michael Callaway, Max Way, Marc Callaway, James Sanderson, Benjamin Way and Matthew Way.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
