Clay Charles Dunkel, beloved “Pookie,” passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008. He was 18.
Clay was born Oct. 1, 1990, in Joplin, Mo., to Kevin and Jeannie (Shelton) Dunkel. Clay was a junior at Miami High School and had played football for the Miami Wardogs. He was a member of the FFA and Bethany Christian Church of Miami, Okla.
Clay was a lover of food, life and girls. He was an avid hunter and loved being with his friends. Clay lived life to the fullest, hard and fast, but always slowed down for a friend in need. He would do anything for a friend in need. He would do anything for anyone and was always there to make someone laugh or smile.
He is a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Dunkel.
He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Jeannie Dunkel, of the home; two brothers, Zack and Dusty Dunkel, of the home; his grandparents, Dale Dunkel and Joe and Cheryl Shelton; his girlfriend, Brittney; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Miami, Okla. Ron Eden will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Zackery Dunkel, Ryan Rathjen, Tyler Vincent, Brad Forrester, Cody Sharp and Toby Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Dunkel, Chris Chase and Christopher Bottero.
Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
