Joyce Smith, longtime resident of rural Afton, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, after a sudden illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Tulsa, to Edgar and Mildred (Bardwell) Williams.

She married Robert L. Smith on Nov. 2, 1971, in Miami. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Paul Williams, and a sister, Sunny Turner.

Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith and attended the Hickory Grove Bible study.

Survivors include three brothers, Dave Williams of Grove, Steve Williams and his wife, Joyce, of Pioneer, Mo., and Roger Williams and his wife, Donna, of Mesa, Ariz., and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hickory Grove Gymnasium with the Rev. Roger Williams officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Cron, Doug Boyd, Roger Selsor, Larry McClendon, Bill Porter, and Benny Haynes.  Honorary pallbearers will be R.C. Smith, and Dave Fritz.

Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
