William E. “Bill” Fowler of Commerce died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center of Miami after an illness. He was 84.
Mr. Fowler was born July 18, 1923, in Denison, Texas, to William Allen and Pearl (Phillips) Fowler. He lived in Commerce for the past 10 years, moving from Pittsburg, Kan.
He was a World War II veteran of the Navy.
He was employed at EFD Freight in Kansas City, Mo., for 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 403 A.F.&A.M. in Denison, the Scottish Rite Consistory and was a Shriner. He was a member of Cardin Christian Church in Cardin.
He was married to Eleanore York and Patricia McWethy, both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, William Fowler Jr. and his wife Faye of Dallas, Texas; one stepson, George Earl McWethy and his wife Penny of Peoria; three grandchildren, Sheila Fowler of Dallas, Joe McWethy of Jenks and Mark McWethy of Peoria; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and friend and cargiver Gertrude Manning and her family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in Denison, Texas.
