Jimmie E. Cole of Miami died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, Mo., following a 13-month battle with cancer. He was 46.
Mr. Cole was born Sept. 3, 1960, in Joplin, Mo., to Jimmie A. and Janice A. (Ellis) Cole. He lived most of his life in the Wyandotte area.
He was a chef, working the past two years for the Wyandotte Nation. He previously worked at the Cherokee Yacht Club at Grand Lake for 15 years. He attended the Sycamore Valley Methodist Church.
He married Marvina J. Breiner on Sept. 14, 1985, in Miami. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Chad E. Cole and Brad Cole, both of Galena, Kan., and Anthony “Tony” Cole, of the home; one daughter, Amanda “JoJo” Cole, of the home; his mother, of Fairland; one brother, Scott Cole of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Cheryl Gwartney of Wyandotte and Cindy Cruzan of Pensacola, and two grandchildren, Vada Cole and Garrett Wade.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1989.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena with the Rev. Donald Bates officiating. Burial will be in Wyandotte Cemetery. The family will meet at the home of Crystal Kramer after the burial.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
