Lauren E. “Junior” Johnson Jr. of Miami died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after an illness. He was 83.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Treece, Kan., to Lauren and Murl (Aul) Johnson. He lived in Picher and Miami all of his life.

He was a World War II veteran.

He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami for 31 years and Johnson Lumber Yard in Picher for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Picher and Ottawa Lodge No. 493 A.F.&A.M.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Johnson, of the home; one son, Michael Johnson of Broken Arrow; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gregg Johnson; his parents, and one brother, Giles Johnson.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece. The Rev. Jack Frazier will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
