Joyce R. Keener of Wyandotte died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at her home after a long illness. She was 61.
Mrs. Keener was born July 18, 1947, in Ottawa County to Basil and Ruby (Strickland) Sparlin. She lived in the Wyandotte area most of her life.
She was a homemaker. She attended Racine Christian Church.
She married Andy L. Keener on Sept. 26, 1964, in Neosho, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Junior Sparlin, and one sister, Carolyn Sparlin.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Randy and Sandra Keener of Wyandotte; one daughter and her husband, Patricia and Malcolm Chandler of Fort Polk, La.; three brothers, Ted Sparlin of Wyandotte, Elmer Sparlin of Seneca, Mo., and LeRoy Sparlin of Goodman, Mo.; one sister, Oma Lee Bates of Miami, and seven grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Racine Christian Church. The Rev. Carol Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery.
Pallbearers are David Sparlin, James Sparlin, Frank Shinn, Gerald Brown, Gary Keener and Junior Keener.
Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca.
