Mary J. Bachman of Quapaw died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Higher Call Nursing Home after an illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Bachman was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Salem, Mo., to Robert and Deloras (Blackwell) Howard Dawson.

She was a licensed practical nurse working at local nursing homes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Quapaw.

Survivors include two sons, Joel Bachman of Joplin, Mo., and Christopher Bachman; two brothers, Clarence Dawson of Joplin, Mo., and Robert Dawson of Ridgecrest, Calif.; three sisters, Robadean Speights and Brunetta Golden, both of Quapaw and Gertrude Manning of Commerce, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Norman Bachman; her parents, and two brothers, William Dawson.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Dale Neil will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
