Shirley LaRue Chaney, 73, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at home on Friday morning, June 22.
Born July 22, 1933, she was the daughter of Clay and Nola Cochran.
On March 4, 1950, she married Roy Chaney who preceded her in death on march 11, 1982. Except for a brief time of living with her parents in White Plains, New York, she lived in Miami. She worked as a seamstress at Glenn Berry and as a substitute cook in Miami Public Schools.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Shirley loved life, gardening, traveling with family, playing games, shopping and working puzzles. Her favorite enjoyment in life was cooking for her family, church and friends. He quick wit, sense of humor and wisdom were cherished by all. We will miss her smile, generosity and big heart dearly.
She is survived by her sister Betty jane Smith, 83, of Norman, Okla.; her children, Brenda Randall, Phoenix, Ariz., Douglas Chaney, Iowa Park, Texas, Kelly Chaney, Ponca City, Okla., Bryan Chaney of Iowa Park, and Melissa Hodges of Oronogo, Mo.,; nephew, Randy Smith of Portland, Ore., their spouses and five grandchildren.
The family received friends at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home on Sunday.
Grave site services will be conducted by the Rev. Frizzel at 10:30 a.m. today at G.A.R Cemetery.
