Dudley James Laird of Miami died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo. He was 90.

Mr. Laird was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Quincy, Ill., to Ralph and Erma (Jackson) Laird. He lived in Glendale, Calif., until moving to Miami in 1981.

He worked as a prototype machinist for Walt Disney Company for 25 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Miami.

He married Jeanne Henderson on Nov. 18, 1976, in Sherman Oaks, Calif. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Lamont Lair and his wife Rebecca and Lance Laird, all of Miami; one daughter and her husband, Elissa and Burt Patadal of Pink; three grandchildren, Sonia Laird of Miami, Sandy Laird of Sherman Oaks and Nicholas Standing of Los Angeles, Calif., and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami, with Gayle Ludwig officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.

Memorials are suggested to the Animal Welfare Society in care of the funeral home.
