Geral D. Carlin of Picher died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at his daughter's home after an illness. He was 85.

Mr. Carlin was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Picher to Theodore and Angie (Carver) Carlin. He lived in Picher all of his life

He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps.

He was postmaster in Picher for 17 years and worked many years in the Picher Post Office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Picher.

He married Eunice Smith on Oct. 9, 1942. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2002.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Merl Carlin, Kenny Carlin and Gabriel Carlin.

Survivors include one son, Mark Carlin of Picher; one daughter and her husband, Nancy and Jackie McNeely of Quapaw; four grandchildren, Juli, Alex, Jesse and Abby, and one great-grandchild, Autumn “Sissy.”

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. The Rev. Matt Hofeld will officiate.
