Melvin Holbrook Jr. of Miami died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw after an illness. He was 76.

Mr. Holbrook was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Belding, Mich., to Melvin and Nathella (Brewer) Holbrook.

He worked for Wiseta in production control. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami.

He married Maureen M. Doran. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include four sons and their wives, M. Paul and Joni Holbrook III, Matthew D. and Sherri Holbrook and Maurice J. and Maria Holbrook, all of Michigan, and Mark D. Holbrook of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter and her husband, Meleen M. and John Froman of Miami, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami. The Rev. Carl Kerkmeyer will officiate.

Pallbearers will be M. Paul Holbrook, Mark Holbrook, Matthew Holbrook, John Froman, Maurice Holbrook and Benjamin Holbrook.

The family will receive friends and the Rosary will be read from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
