Raymond Dewayne Rhodes of Quapaw died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at his home. He was 69.
Mr. Rhodes was born July 22, 1938, in rural Delaware County to Albert and Fronie Mae (Bartlow) Rhodes. He lived in Northeastern Oklahoma all of his life.
He was a truck driver for J.B. Hunt and a member of the “Million Mile Club.” He was a member of Eastside Assembly of God Church, east of Miami.
He married Beva McElhany on June 5, 1956, in Jay. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and his wife, Gary and Kris Rhodes of Wyandotte; one daughter, Brenda Rhodes of Quapaw; two brothers, Leo Rhodes of Houston, Texas, and Darrell Rhodes of Winfield, Kan.; three sisters, Bert Humphrey of Lakeland, Fla., Ruby Rogers of Floral, Ark., and Janice Burleson of Grove, two granddaughters, Nikki Rhodes of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., and Cody Morgan and husband Brad of Afton, and one great-grandson, Garret Morgan of Afton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Eastside Assembly of God on Highway 10. The Rev. Gary Rhodes will officiate assisted by the Rev. William Webber. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, north of Grove.
Pallbearers will be the Rev. Gary Rhodes, Brad Morgan, Jerry McElhany, Larry McElhaney, William Bartley and Sonny Bartley. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Rhodes, Melvin Rogers, Lee Burleson and Leo Rhodes.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
