Charles Ray Brooks of Miami died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in Joplin, Mo., He was 81.
Mr. Brooks was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Adair County, Okla., to David and Minnie Clevenger Brooks.
He married Esther Bolsinger on March 8, 1948, in Alva.
He attended the University of Arkansas and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Stan Brooks and his wife Cheryl of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Janet McCointy and her husband Ron of Bixby; three sisters, Velma Tutem of Wichita, Kan., Mary Clancey of Fort Worth, Texas, and Barbara Tregemba of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandsons, Blaine and Eric Brooks; two granddaughters, Taylor Brooks and Jennifer McGinty, and one great-granddaughter, Austin Rose Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregg Elliott officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
