Juanita Ruth Eskina of Commerce died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.

She was 79.

Mrs. Eskina was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Commerce to Claude and Lena (Hobbs) Monroe.

She was a homemaker and a member of Snowhill Baptist Church in Tuttle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alec Eskina; her parents and one sister, Sharon Simms.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Eskina of Commerce, David Eskina of Tuttle and Michael Eskina and his wife Debbie of Moore; five daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Captain Ross Sr. of Commerce, Lynda and Harold Truitt of Tuttle, Cheryl and Les Matheny of Bethany, Carol and Bob Bortscheller of Blancker and Michelle and James Collins of Oklahoma City; one sister, Wilma Claudell Ponder of Oklahoma City; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Leora Morton and the Rev. Viola Purdue will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Truitt, Mark Truitt, Steve Breeding, Jeremy Colbin, Captain Ross Jr. and Ryan Matheny. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Ross and Jimmy Bartschellor.
