Doris Marie Johnson, a longtime Miami resident passed away in Fairland on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the age of 81.

She was born on October 27, 1930 in Foss, Oklahoma to Ernest and Delia Mae (Lawson) Ingram. Doris married Wallace Herman Johnson on July 1, 1949 in Fresno, California; he preceded her in death on May 6, 2001. Doris retired from Belk’s where she worked in the home fashion, loved to do seamstress work, could just sew anything and was a member of the Narcissa Baptist Church where she was the church Treasurer for a period of time. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include a son and his wife Mike and Charlene Johnson, of Miami, Two daughters and their husbands, Julie and Dewayne Turner of Miami and Renne and Larry Jahn of Fresno, California; a sister Iley Herdje of Fresno, eight grandchildren, Michele Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Christopher Johnson and his wife Natalie, Kristi Chupryna and her husband Andre and Kelli Jahn, Sarah Northcutt, Katie Kimbrough, and Allison Kimbrough, two great-grandchildren Paige Northcutt and Hayden Northcutt, two brothers Floyd and Gloria Ingram, LeRoy and May Ingram and a sister Betty and Bob Goodrich all of Miami.

There will be a time of visitation from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.

Funeral services for Doris will be on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Narcissa Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Glen-Abbey Cemetery under the direction of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home of Miami.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Narcissa Baptist Church in Doris’ name.
