Bob Hulsey of Claremore, formerly of Miami, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Claremore Regional Hospital in Claremore after an illness. He was 81 years of age.
He was born May 12, 1926, at Carterville, Mo., to Curtis Lee and Kathryn Marie (Watkins) Hulsey. He had lived in Miami for 50-plus years before moving to Claremore. He was a final finisher for B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company for 32 years. He was a member of Northeast Baptist Church of Miami, a charter member of NEO Federal Credit Union of Miami and was formerly a member of the credit unionís board. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union. He was a member of the Missouri state championship football team in 1942 at Neosho, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in both World War II and Korea.
He was married to L. Maxine Johnston. She survives, of the home. His parents, one son, one daughter and one brother, Jack Hulsey, all predeced him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Clifford James Hulsey of Claremore and Ronald Hulsey and his wife Marcie of Chanute, Kan.; two daughters, Kathy Anderson and husband David of Claremoe and Karen Smith and husband Roy of Moore; one brother, Bill Hulsey and wife Loydine of Neosho; two sisters, Irma Hulsey of Neosho and George Ann Hulsey of Neosho; one sister-in-law, Lenna Hulsey of Neosho, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at Northeast Baptist Church in Miami. The Rev. Clyde Stilley will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Rob Taylor, Jeremy Smith, Josh Smith, Shane Hulsey, Nick Hulsey and David Sadler.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. the day of the service at the church. The Missouri National Guard Juliet Team will conduct graveside military rites.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
