Alfred E. Dickman Jr. died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at the Grove Nursing Center. He was 78.
Mr. Dickman was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Joplin Mo., to Alfred E. and Beryl Dickman. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1947.
He was a veteran of the Air Force. He served for 22 1/2 years, during the Berlin Air lift, the Korea War and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1969 as a chief master sergeant.
After retiring from the military, Alfred worked as the manager of Camp Charles for the Sand Springs Home for 12 years. He volunteered for the Christian Mission Thrift Store in Grove for 25 years. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge since 1977, and a member of the Methodist Church since 1980.
He married Carol on Dec. 22, 1950, in Wahoo Neb. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Linda Cardoza of Grove; one son, Alfred E. Dickman III of Grove; one sister, Betty Ipock of Grove; one brother, James Dickman of Carlsbad, N.M., and two grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Doug Taylor of Beaumont, Calif., and James and Rachel Cardoza of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Dickman.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Family Funeral Home chapel.
