Edward L. Golden of Bluejacket died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the Veterans Medical Center in Muskogee after an illness. He was 77.

Mr. Golden was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Hockerville.

He was a veteran of the Army where he served for nine years as a radio specialist master heavy duty mechanic.

He worked as a satellite mechanic for many years in Idaho, before retiring in 1995. He worked very hard to become a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and used it to help many children with medical help they needed.

He married Donna Gilmore. From their union came four children, James Alvin Golden, Danniel Lee Stand, Jolene LaVoy Wright and Ronald Lee Golden, who died shortly after birth.

He later married Bernetta Dawson. From their union came three boys whom Ed raised; Ed, David Priesfield and Jeff Golden.

He then married Rosa Compton Frost. From their union came one daughter, Tina Marie Golden.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Groves Skaggs; his adopted parents, Lon Alvin Golden and Mary Ella Raines Golden; one sister, Norma Lee Pinel; one infant son; and two brothers, Evertt Eugene Skaggs and George Robert Skaggs.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
