Albert E. “Jake” Brewster Jr. of Miami died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami. He was 89.
Jake was born July 25, 1919, in Miami, Okla., to Albert E. Sr. and Maud (Jones) Brewster. He served in the army during World War II. He lived most of his life in Miami and worked at B. F. Goodrich. He took care of his family and friends. He loved to socialize and have his fellow workers help him build houses when Goodrich would go on strike. He would go out early in the mornings and light the grill at Best Western and then stay for coffee with his buddies. In his earlier years, he also did some roping.
He married Maxine Lewis on July 16, 1940, in Miami. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a daughter and her husband, Deanne and Daryl McBride, Tulsa; a grandson, Josef Brewster McBride, Tulsa; a great grandson, Trevor Caleb McBride, Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at GAR Cemetery. The Rev. Kathy Leithner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
