Jay W. Blair of Miami died at 6:35 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Osborne Care & Rehab Center after a long illness. He was 90.
Jay was born February 28, 1917, south of Fairland, Oklahoma to Joe Andrew and Maude May (Lamar) Blair. He attended Miami schools. He worked as a tire builder for B.F. Goodrich for 31 years. He was of the protestant faith.
On January 23, 1938, he married Mildred Louise Taylor. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1995.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Goodman on October 10, 1992, one son, Gary Alan Blair on May 13, 2006, and one grandson, Tim Goodman.
Survivors include his companion of eight years, Ann Mills of Miami; one son, Mike Blair and his wife Shirley of Miami; one daughter, Norma Gayle Harrison of Norman; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2007 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami with Chaplain John McPhail officiating. Burial will follow in Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, OK. Pallbearers will be Mark Goodman, Mike Goodman, Steven Blair, Chafen Harrison, Tom Hardcastle, and Jerry Plake.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
