George A. Romick of Miami died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after an illness. He was 77.
Mr. Romick was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Miami to Philip A. and Flora Ellen Whitebird) Romick Sr. He lived in Miami all of his life. He graduated from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo.
He served as a Quapaw Tribal chairman and as a member of the business committee. He retired after 30 years at the Miami Post Office and worked as security at the Stables for eight years.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhona Romick of Manhattan, Kan., and Tamara Parker of Garden City, Kan.; two sisters, Philis McCarty of Stonewall and Lena Billy of Anadarko; one brother, Charles Romick of Reno, Nev., and five grandchildren, Paul and Melissa Parker, Ben Parker, Jacob and Annie Sutton, Brian Weir and Amy Weir.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Philip A. Romick Jr.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Quapaw Tribal Building. Burial will be in Whitebird Cemetery, east of Quapaw.
Indian rites will be conducted by Leonard Smith.
The body will be in repose at the Quapaw Tribal Building.
