Bob Gene Nicholson of Miami, Okla., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness. He was 73.
Mr. Nicholson was born March 24, 1935, in Monarch, Kan., to Edward and Mertyle (Farmer) Nicholson. He had lived in Picher all of his life and was a member of Highway Tabernacle Church in Cardin, Okla.
He had served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Luce.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeannie Hix and husband Jerry of Derby, Kan.; two grandsons, Jimmy Church and wife Anna of Broken Arrow, Okla., and their children Jimmy and Amanda, and Chris Church and wife Elizabeth of Kansas, and their children Breanna, Shannan and Ashton; three brothers, Bill and Betty Nicholson of Plano, Texas, Jerry and Norma Nicholson of Kansas City, Kan., and Harold Nicholson of Ponca City, Okla.; one sister, Doris Knowles of Detroit, Mich.; close friend, Shirley Reed of Commerce, Okla.; four stepchildren, Linda Freeman and husband Ted of Commerce, Okla., Debbie Durham of Commerce, Okla., David Reed and wife Sharon of Afton, Okla., and Terry Reed and wife Karen of Afton, Okla.; nine stepgrandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Highway Tabernacle in Cardin, Okla., with the Rev. Ray Clonts officiating.
Services are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Okla.
