James Arnold Mason of Fairland, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. He was 88.

Mr. Mason was born December 13, 1922 in Center Ridge, Arkansas, to Chester and Bertha Foster Mason.

He married Savannah Lou Medlock on November 26, 1950 in the home of her parents in Morrilton, Arkansas and she survives of the home.

He had lived in Fairland since 1953, moving from Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He attended Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, Arkansas, served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked at B.F. Goodrich for 32 years retiring in 1984.

He was an active member of Fairland Lions Club, served as a Fairland school board member, and was an elder of the Afton Church of Christ.

He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union #318. In addition, he was a charter member of the board of directors which established the Fairland Round-Up Club in the 1960s.

James and Savannah celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November at a dinner celebration with their children and grandchildren present.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Everett; and sister, June.

Survivors include two daughters, Andrea Kelly and Susan Riley both of Gravette, Arkansas; two sons, James M. Mason of the home and Stephen and wife Lorna Mason of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Other survivors are his grandchildren, Allyson and husband Billy Shapp of Quapaw, Ash and wife Andrea Kelly of Alex, Oklahoma, Alicia Mason of Pittsburg, Kansas, Savannah Mason of Tampa, Florida, Jessica and husband Jeff Holcomb of Sherwood, Arkansas, Abigail and Nick Mason, Lauris, Ali, Madyson and Bayli Schultheiss all of Tulsa; and great- grandchildren, Garrett, Deacon, Peyton, Jarrett, Preston, Wyatt, Vanna Rose, Katy Grace, Lexington and Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Adcock Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Mason's nephew, Mike Mason of Fayetteville, Arkansas, will officiate.

Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Ash Kelly, Billy Shapp, Garrett Shapp, Jeff Holcomb, Nick Mason and nephew Lee Lockart. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Shumaker, Gerald Tipton, Paul Wilson, Reuben Tipton, Roger Selsor, and Troy Selsor.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland, Oklahoma.
