Edward E. Powell of Afton, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 59.
Mr. Powell was born July 3, 1948, in Miami to Oscar and Mabel (Connor) Powell. He moved to Afton in 1991, coming from Joplin, Mo.
He was a Vietnam veteran, served in the Navy.
He was a salesman in several different industries. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Afton and the American Legion.
He married Sondra Moody on Oct. 31, 1997, at Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter and her husband, Cindy and Chris Todd of Afton; four sons and their wives, Shane and Penny Powell of Wyandotte, Bill Jones, Chad and Lila Jones and Colt and Rebecca Jones, all of Afton; three brothers and their wives, Ted and Kay Powell and Ned Powell, all of Miami, and Jed and Crystal Powell of Joplin; one sister, Sherry Gail Powell of Wyandotte, 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in Afton with chaplain Geoff Buffalo officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton.
Pallbearers will be Chris Todd, Bill Jones, Chad Jones, Colt Collins, Bradley Jones and Roger Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Jenkins, Joe Jones, John Korb and Jake Rion.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Adcock Funeral Home in Afton.
Memorials are suggested to either Heaven and Earth Hospice or First Assembly of God Church in Afton, in care of the funeral home.
