Jack E. Duggan, 79, a longtime resident of Commerce, Okla., passed away June 13, 2017 at Windridge Nursing and Rehab, after a long illness. He was born January 28, 1938 in Picher, Okla. to Zachery Duggan and Thelma Jane (Holman) Duggan.

After graduating high school, Jack attended welding school at N.E.O. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as an on-board mechanic. He served from July 1, 1957 until April 3, 1961 when he was honorably discharged. He also worked for several years as shop foreman and mechanic in the coalmines west of Welch for the Bill Patch Coal Company. Later, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Bingham’s.

Jack was member of the Commerce Community Church. He enjoyed woodworking, and working on his 1946 Ford and his 1962 Chevy truck.

Jack married Edith Carol Duboise on April 27, 1960 in Miami. They made their home in Commerce for many years. On March 23, 2017, Edith preceded him in death after 57 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley.

Jack is survived by two sisters, Marcina Johnston and husband Carroll of Miami, and Jana Chambers and husband Michael of Venus, Texas; one brother, Charles Robert (Bob) Duggan of Miami; two sister in laws, Sandy Frost of Miami and Treva Duboise of Commerce; along with several cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at the N.E.O. Veterans Cemetery in North Miami with Pastor Herb Young officiating
