John Douglas Wilhoit Jr., a true example of love and devotion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2017 with his family surrounding him. J.D. was born to John Douglas Wilhoit Sr. and Florence Emma States on July 7, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma. Dr. Wilhoit married his love of sixty-eight years, Rose Marie Putnam at the Davis Park Christian Church in Enid. He had a cradle roll certificate from that same church. J.D. joined the United States Navy June 7, 1946, he attained the rank of Airman before he was honorably discharged at the end of his service in 1948. Dr. Wilhoit graduated from Enid High School with the Class of 1946. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Science at Oklahoma A&M, then received his Master’s of Science degree from Oklahoma State University, then went on to receive his Doctor of Education from OSU. Dr. Wilhoit was the Dean of Technology at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami. He was on the board at First Christian Church in Miami, he was a member of the Miami Rotary Club, a Thirty-Second Degree Mason, a member of the Oklahoma Technical Society and the American Technical Educators Association. Dr. Wilhoit’s parents J.D. and Florence Emma Wilhoit preceded him in passing.

Family members that are left with great memories of J.D. are his loving wife Rose Marie Wilhoit of the home, his children John Douglas Wilhoit III of Miami and Terry Lynn Cash and her husband Ron of Grove, his grandchildren Jared Douglas Cash and his wife Kimmie, of Grove, Jordan Dale Cash and his wife Jessica of Oklahoma City along with his great grandchildren Rylie Marie Cash, Aaliyah Catherine Cash, Norah Ellise Cash and Miriam Rose Cash.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Grove.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2017 at First Christian Church with Pastor Ron Riley officiating. Interment will follow at New Olympus Cemetery in Grove under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
