Barbara June Newkirk of Miami passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 surrounded by her family, she was 82. Barbara came into this world on June 5, 1934 to Cletis and Marie (Cook) Stoner in Miami, Oklahoma. She graduated high school with Bluejacket’s Class of 1951. She married her high school sweetheart Cloyce Newkirk on November 20, 1954 at the Narcissa Baptist Church. The Newkirk’s were members of the First Baptist Church in Bluejacket where she was very active, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and played the piano. Barbara worked for many years for Joyful Learning Center and later Ken’s Farm and Home in Miami. She loved sewing, cooking and also enjoyed her plants, flowers and butterflies. Most of all she really enjoyed her grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Cletis and Marie Stoner, her son Jeffrey Newkirk and a Great Granddaughter Gracie Pugh.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years Cloyce Newkirk of the home, her children Rhonda Pugh of Miami, Lisa Burrows and her husband Gary of Miami and Michael Newkirk of Guymon, Oklahoma, her brothers Bill Stoner and his wife Joy of Miami, Eddy Stoner and his wife Sherrie of Fairland, Don Stoner and his wife Dixie of Bluejacket, her grandchildren Chris Pugh, Kyle Pugh, Chelsea McQuigg, Charlie McQuigg, Kayla McQuigg and Iman Burrows, her great grandchildren are Clayton Pugh, Jarrett Pugh, Kai Anderson and Karissa Anderson.
Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Bluejacket with Reverends Wes Davis and Marty McCord officiating. Interment will follow at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be William Walker, Richard Norton, Jim Riley, Danny Riley, Randy Henry and Joe Bruce.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Gary Eulitt, Jack Cook, Ken Hunsperger, Floyd Ingram, Jerry Harris and Harold McGuire.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church in Bluejacket in honor of Mrs. Newkirk.
