Services honoring and remembering the life of Jerry D. Maples will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service in Claremore, Okla. with Elder Terry Roach officiating.  Don passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home in Claremore.  He was 69.

Don was born and raised in Clever, Mo. and went to High School there. On July 1, 1966 he married the love of his life, Janie in Neosho, Mo. and just two years later was drafted into the Vietnam War. The small family moved to Hurley, Mo. and lived there until 1976 when they moved to Fairland, Oklahoma and started raising cattle and poultry.  In 2015 Janie and he moved to Claremore to be closer to family.

Don loved the land, loved being outdoors: enjoying fishing and horseback riding. He was a great neighbor, often leaving his own things undone in order to help a neighbor. He was a good husband, a good daddy, and was the best Grampy in the world to his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Loveland Primitive Baptist Church.
