Rex Dean Hopkins of Miami, Okla. passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.  He was 66.

Rex was born May 20, 1950 in Columbus, Kans. to Robert and Francis (Still) Hopkins.  He had lived in Miami for six years, moving from Galena, Kans.  He was an electrician and welder for Eagle-Picher Industries in Joplin, Mo.  Rex served in the United States Army during Vietnam.  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Baxter Springs and Friends of Vietnam Veterans Era.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Hopkins of the home, his son, Wade Hopkins of Riverton, Kans., his daughter, Michelle Hopkins and Mike Hamill of Columbus, Kans., two brothers, Mike Hopkins of North Miami, Okla. and Robert Hopkins of Mesa, Ariz. and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla.  Rev. Ray Clonts will officiate.  Interment will be in Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kans. with military honors by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.  Pallbearers will be Mike Hamill, Mike Fisher, David Woodward, Wade Hopkins, Chris Cathraw and John Harris.   The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami.  Online condolences may be made at www.paulthomasfuneralhomes.com.
