The chairman of the Ottawa County Floodplain Board has submitted his resignation, shortly after accepting employment with the City of Miami.
Jack Dalrymple, who will start work today as the engineer and floodplain manager for the City of Miami, extended his appreciation to the county for the opportunity to serve in the appointed position and offered his continued support.
“It has been an honor and a distinct privilege working for the citizens of Ottawa County and with the County Commissioners,” Dalrymple wrote in a letter dated July 24. “As in the past, I will always be available to assist you and Ottawa County in any way that my ability allows.”
Dalrymple said he felt compelled to resign his county floodplain position in order to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
Dalrymple was appointed to the county floodplain board in April of 2005.
