Officials at Picher and Quapaw schools have dismissed classes due to power outages and wind damage.
Authorities say the Picher gymnasium sustained signifcant damage when high winds blew threw southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma Friday morning.
Straight line winds between 50 and 90 mph moved across the four-states early Friday causing power outages in many communities. Area businesses and residents reported downed trees and power lines blocking roads. Structural damage has been reported throughout the four-state area.
